Although the founder, chairman, CEO, and president of Amazon is now listed as the most wealthy man in the world, Jeff Bezos is reportedly set to lose a huge fraction of his fortune due to his impending divorce from his wife of 25 years. "As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have made a decision to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends", the statement shared via Twitter read. (See their full statement below.) They have yet to file any official paperwork with the courts, confirming expectations that they will seek to handle the matter privately so as to avoid attracting unwanted attention to the company. The National Enquirer is publishing in its latest edition what it calls a four-month investigation tracking Bezos's time spent with former Fox LA TV anchor Lauren Sanchez, the wife of Hollywood talent agent Patrick Whitesell.

In their statement on Wednesday, Jeff and MacKenzie said they had been going through a "trial separation" in recent months. Virtually all of that is tied up in the almost 79 million shares of Amazon stock that he owns.

Even though Bezos wasn't rich at the time, the divorce is likely to make his ex-wife the richest woman in the world. She reportedly met Bezos through Whitesell.

Bezos, who was recently named the richest man in the world, and wife MacKenzie Bezos announced their split in a statement on the billionaire's Twitter account on Wednesday, writing that they had chose to continue their "shared lives as friends".

IBM clearly thinks of the Q system as a piece of art and, indeed, the final result is quite stunning. The goal of the centre is to make IBM Q System One capacity available on a limited commercial basis.

The pair have two children together, a 12-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter.

The divorce between Bezos and wife, MacKenzie, may be more complicated than originally expected.

Sources close to Jeff however told TMZ that the relationship with Lauren began after Jeff and Mackenzie's separation. While Washington state divorce law considers all that the couple builds and accrues during their marriage as community property, that doesn't necessarily mean a 50-50 split of assets - including six homes, according to Business Insider - but the court attempts to split assets (and debts), fair and equitably.

The divorce deal could significantly dilute his ownership and control of Amazon. Jeff Bezos, 54, is at the top of most list, and his fortune now hovers around $137 billion.

Mr Bezos is the founder and chief executive of Amazon, which recently took Microsoft's spot as the most valuable United States firm.
