MCTS officials say just before 8 a.m. on December 22 a bus driver spotted something shocking in front of her bus - a baby boy wandering alone on a freeway overpass near 4th and Mitchell in Milwaukee, our Milwaukee affiliate WITI Fox 6 Now reports.

Bus driver Irena Ivic had started her morning just like any other when she was shocked to see the baby boy on the side of the road in Milwaukee in the U.S. state of Wisconsin in December.

The video later shows Ivic stopping her bus, running across the street, picking up the crying child and carrying her to the bus. He said he believes his wife, who he said has a mental illness, took the baby to the church just across the freeway and forgot about her. Transit video shows the boy toddling down the overpass.

A Wisconsin bus driver is being recognized for her heroic actions. Authorities eventually reunited the boy with his father. Ivic then called authorities and the child fell asleep in her arms as they arrived on the scene.

In their statement on Wednesday, Jeff and MacKenzie said they had been going through a "trial separation" in recent months. Sources close to Jeff however told TMZ that the relationship with Lauren began after Jeff and Mackenzie's separation.

NOTE: Police first said the baby fas a boy but later clarified that the child is actually a girl.

In video released by the MCTS, you can see Ivic driving down the street when she spots the small girl, who was less than a year old and dressed only in a onesie.

She said she was just glad she could keep him safe.
