DJ LeMahieu, Yankees Agree On 2-Year Contract

Source confirms: Free-agent second baseman DJ LeMahieu heading to #Yankees on two-year deal.

Even though the Dodgers didn't end up signing LeMahieu, they have to be pleased to see the two-time All-Star, three-time Gold Glove Award victor and 2016 National League batting champion leave the NL West.

The deal has yet to be announced publicly by the team.

LeMahieu is the second prominent addition to the Yankees' infield, on the heels of last week's signing of Troy Tulowitzki.

The Yankees added another infielder on Friday.

Tulsi Gabbard: Democrat says she will run for president in 2020
Gabbard positioned herself as one of President Barack Obama's fiercest critics over his handling of the so-called Islamic State . Gabbard accused Hirono and other Democrats of discriminating against Buescher's Catholic faith in their line of questioning.

NY brought in Tulowitzki with the understanding that if he's healthy he'll be playing shortstop. It's a crowded mix but a deep and highly talented one that should provide the Yankees plenty of insurance against injury while also allowing them to field a strong lineup even on days when their top bats are resting.

The only real question mark in the Yankees' infield is first base, with Luke Voit and Greg Bird returning next season. The breakout slugger has been heavily criticized for his defense at third base, even though his steady offense was one of the biggest bright spots of the 2018 season. Signing Machado would be about more than this year for the Yankees, who don't seem sold on the defensively-challenged Andujar at third base, and again, have a soon-to-be free agent in Gregorius.

If offers from the Phillies and White Sox are similar, the Phillies would give Machado a better chance to win immediately, if that is indeed what matters most to him.

The Yankees have not publicly made Machado an offer - and with LeMahieu, Andujar, Torres, and Tulowitzki now - they may never get to that point.
