Flu season hitting Okanagan kids hard

The health department reports a total of 423 Montana flu cases so far this season, two flu-related fatalities and 34 hospitalizations.

Like the three previous deaths, the department said the latest victim was over the age of 50.

According to the CDC an estimated 80,000 American died of flu and its complications last season - the disease's highest death toll in at least four decades. Northern Manitoba has been hit hard in the 2018-19 flu season, with 130 influenza cases from September 1 to December 29, second only to Winnipeg which had 210.

This flu season is so far milder compared to last year's brutal one, but authorities are still on the watch.
