The film is helmed by "Nightcrawler" Director Dan Gilroy, and co-stars Rene Russo, John Malkovich, Billy Magnussen, Daveed Diggs, Zawe Ashton, Natalia Dyer and Toni Collette. Speaking with Business Insider, Gilroy teased the project saying: "It's set in the world of contemporary art in Los Angeles, and its got a Robert Altman-like large ensemble cast and the story is being told through these different characters".

The weird titled film begins when a grouping of unique paintings have been found at a dead hermit's apartment.

Though that's usually better than being unexpectedly normal, Velvet Buzzsaw's special brand of unhinged horror has struck Twitter users in a special way.

Netflix has debuted the first trailer for Velvet Buzzsaw ahead of its arrival on the streaming service next month.

Flu season hitting Okanagan kids hard
This flu season is so far milder compared to last year's brutal one, but authorities are still on the watch. Like the three previous deaths, the department said the latest victim was over the age of 50.

Gyllenhaal plays an eccentric art critic named Morf Vandewalt, who is slowly driven insane when he discovers that paintings he has found locked up in an apartment owned by a dead insane genius are actually haunted by some kind of malevolent presence. He stumbles upon a collection of paintings by a man who has passed away, unaware that they have unusual supernatural powers that prove to be deadly. Interestingly enough, the trailer (watch above) also makes it seems like each of these murders will become a work of art themselves.

All art is risky.

Velvet Buzzsaw arrives on Netflix on February 1st.
