The debate within her camp has been how, and where, to launch her campaign.

As the first woman and the first person of color to fill the role of California attorney general, Harris said her mother warned her about society's stereotypes regarding women, specifically beliefs that lead some people to reject women in leadership.

"It's 'novel, ' no pun intended".

The California Democrat said she has not yet decided whether to run for president, but she planned to challenge Trump's lies as he seeks congressional funding for his proposed border wall.

Over the past weeks, Harris been making the media rounds, promoting her new book, "The Truths We Hold: An American Journey". Warren announced hers December 31 and followed with a campaign video and a swing through Iowa last weekend.

Yes, Harris can run back to Washington for votes, as previous senators running for president have done.

"Don't drag this out", said Democratic strategist Darry Sragow.

"We also need to stop treating drug addiction like a public safety crisis instead of what it is: a public health crisis", she writes.

Kuchar was flawless on day three, posting four birdies without dropping a shot, to be the 54-hole leader at 18 under. The four-time Ryder Cup team member won a bronze medal for the United States of America at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Bobby Jindal, the erstwhile Republican governor of Louisiana, was the first Indian American to run for the White House.

"We are seeing ascending and descending economies".

During her MSNBC appearance Friday, she said the president's opponent should concentrate on communicating with voters, rather than engaging with Trump on every controversial statement he makes.

Beyond the book, Harris supported legislation that passed the Senate late a year ago and overhauls the criminal justice system, especially when it comes to sentencing rules. "She knows that this is something that's heading her way and a good candidate is one who doesn't wait for it to hit them".

Harris has already done some unofficial groundwork: Last fall, she sent $25,000 to the Democratic parties in four early nominating states: Iowa, South Carolina, Nevada and New Hampshire. Meanwhile, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who is also considering a 2020 bid, often refers to her own prosecutorial past.

The campaign has told prospective hires that it would likely maintain two campaign hubs to provide a presence on both coasts.

In her memoir published Tuesday, the California Democrat describes herself as a "progressive prosecutor" and says it's a "false choice" to decide between supporting the police and advocating for greater scrutiny of law enforcement.
