Spotify Will Soon Let You Block Artists

Instead, tracks by the blocked artist will simply be skipped, meaning you can go forever without hearing your least favourite muso, even if you're listening to a playlist which would usually be packed with their work. By clicking on the button found on an artist's main page, you can essentially mute them from your Spotify account. XXXTentacion's music was also similarly removed, which prompted the rapper's management to contact Spotify with a list of other controversial artists.

Oddly, as Thurrott also noted, Spotify's support team just yesterday told a Twitter user asking about such a feature that blocking "isn't possible right now", even though it definitely appears to be.

"The new feature can be accessed from the "..." menu on an artist's page, where you can click "Don't play this artist" to stop playing music from an artist.

For about as long as Spotify has existed, users have been asking for the ability to block certain artists. And it seems like that's not the case anymore.

Sonny Gray gets needed change of scenery with deal to Reds
Gray is coming off a down season in 2018, posting a 4.90 ERA and 1.49 WHIP (tied for career worst) with NY last season. Gray got off to an underwhelming start with NY , going 4-7 in 11 starts in 2017.

The service is now testing a block feature, which will be released on its updated iOS app, according to tech news site Thurrott.

Bottom line: Spotify has been reluctant to offer a blacklisting feature on its platform but is apparently giving in to overwhelming demand.

The feature has reportedly been tested with a select group of iOS users over the past few months, and it is not yet clear when it will be officially announced and rolled out to everybody.
