Apple earlier this week released a new software update for those iOS device users who're enrolled in its iOS beta program, which is something we've come to expect from the iPhone maker. As clear as day, Apple is presenting a means of calling up the digital assistant from AirPods.

Apple's current AirPods have performed very well at leading retailers since their release in 2016. Rumors have been swirling about new AirPods since a year ago, when it was thought that Apple would release a new model before the 2018 holidays.

Apple's new AirPods are also expected to place a heavy emphasis on health monitoring features, according to the report.

Given that Apple has included support for "Hey Siri" in its latest iOS version, it seems that next generation AirPods are well on their way to launch. There has been speculation that the new AirPods model will feature longer battery life, a noise-cancellation system, and some level of protection from water.

Beijing dismisses Soros' anti-China remarks as 'meaningless'
The 88-year-old Hungarian warned that the U.S. and China were now in a state of cold war , which could turn into a "hot one". The system, which is due to be fully operational in 2020, is expected to be mandatory, media reports said.

Digging through the iOS 12.2 beta release for developers 9to5Maps discovered the following illustration, that reveals AirPods 2 will have "Hey Siri" support, just like the iPhone and other devices.

It's also been reported that the AirPods 2 (or whatever they end up being called) will have support for wireless charging.

As to when the AirPods 2 will be launched, no word has been divulged but the expected launch time is in the first half of the calendar year 2019. AirPods does sound a lot better than AirPods 2.
