Democrats in Congress propose sweeping Green New Deal

Calling climate change "a national emergency", Buttigieg said the concept matched "a sense of urgency about that problem of climate change with a sense of opportunity around what the solutions might represent".

Last week, New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Massachusetts Democratic Senator Ed Markey introduced legislation that would push the United States to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions within the next ten years.

Cornell University Law School Professor Robert Hockett, who counsels Ocasio-Cortez on environmental initiatives, during an interview with Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight" challenged the host after he was asked about one of the points on the list of frequently asked questions for Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal, posted online. The result was much mockery and derision from critics on the right, concern and confusion from fans on the left, and her office quickly pulling the much-maligned FAQ document from her GND page.

Phillips found that the majority of college students loved her proposal - until they heard what is actually in it. "I think that we need to cut our reliance on fossil fuels", said one student. Thinking it was real, Epshteyn began debating with the "confused" parody account.

Fitbit hasn't announced any official pricing for these new devices, though it's apparently the company's cheapest device so far. The slightly more advanced Inspire HR also offers heart rate tracking and Global Positioning System .

Some of the students made clear that they perceive global warming as an apocalyptic concern.

As IJR previously reported, Ocasio-Cortez's rollout of her long-awaited Green New Deal resolution was met with laughter after a fact-sheet about the resolution claimed that the longterm goals included replacing air travel with trains, renovating every building in America, and stopping cows from farting.

"I think if we didn't do that, then we're gonna be killing ourselves basically, so we need to take care of ourselves", a different student said. Ocasio-Cortez's chief of staff said this was merely a draft and that it was published by accident.

"I have a 10-year-old and a seven-year-old", he continued.
