Davis stopped Ruiz, fighting for the first time at super featherweight, following a dominant performance in their bout for the WBA 130-pound title Saturday in the main event of a Showtime-televised card at the Dignity Health Sports Park. Ruiz was a late replacement for former three-division world champion Abner Mares, who withdrew due to a detached retina in his right eye sustained during a training session.

Davis went on to beat Ruiz by first-round knockout to retain the belt.

Fortuna could be in the running for the victor of Rances Barthelemy versus Robert Easter Jr., who will fight in April for the WBA lightweight world title Mikey Garcia gave up.

And it appears Mayweather is setting up another exhibition bout for Nasukawa.

"The opponent change didn't really affect me", Davis said this week.

Floyd Mayweather has confirmed he's organised Tenshin Nasukawa's next fight and it's another "exhibition".

Law seals Vic Open win with stunning eagle on final hole
Law birdied the 16th and sank an eight-foot putt on the par-five last to card a six-under 66 and win on 18 under. Kaufman is on 10-under for the tournament, two strokes ahead of France's Celine Boutier and Australia's Su Oh.

In the co-feature, Mario Barrios recorded his seventh knockout in a row, all of which have come since joining Virgil Hunter's stable of fighters in Hayward, CA.

After the fight, Davis said he wanted to get more rounds in, but knew with a quick victory, he would be able to return to the ring sooner.

Davis dominates Ruiz with a first round KO bringing his round to 21-0, 20 KOs. Davis fights at 130 pounds.

The Japanese was unceremoniously beaten by Mayweather on New Year's Eve, who needed just 136 seconds to force Tenshin's corner to throw in the towel.

"We're thinking May (for his next fight), if that's OK with him, ' Mayweather told reporters when asked about Davis" plans. The ultimate goal - if any fighter can surpass me, it's this young man right here, which I truly believe.
