Houston Police Department's Major Offenders, Livestock Animal Cruelty Unit responded to the scene, the report said. The cage was kept in a garage that was held closed only with a nylon strap and a screwdriver, police say. Houston police are investigating who may have owned the animal. Packages of meat were discovered with the animal. They were trying to get into this house to smoke marijuana.

The tiger was tranquilized in order to move it out of the house, officials said.

It wasn't immediately clear who the tiger belonged to.

Cops quizzed the drug user, asking if they were high and if they were sure they'd actually seen a tiger. Police did not confirm if an owner had been identified.

Officers tranquillised the female tiger and transported it to the city's animal shelter, where she's staying overnight in a cage inside a horse trailer under round-the-clock surveillance, according to Cottingham.

The win was sealed in the third minute of time added on in the second half, with Jony firing past Aitor Fernández. "I'm pleased. Just 21, Longstaff has emerged in midfield for Newcastle United as not just a promising player, but a reliable one.

"She is pretty large so she doesn't look underfed", Cottingham added, in an on-air news segment.

"The tiger was very thirsty, so we gave him some water", said Jarrad Mears with Houston animal shelter BARC.

An anonymous tip from a "concerned citizen" led to the discovery of a tiger in a vacant home in Houston, Texas, on Monday. "People think that it is fun or that it is cool to have an exotic pet".

"They can be extremely risky".

"Fewer than 3,500 tigers of all tiger subspecies remain in the wild today, according to the Tiger Conservation Campaign", officials added.
