"Well, it's not going to get turned around in 10 years", Feinstein replied.

O'Hanlon told HuffPost in an email that the children were "upset and disappointed" by Feinstein's attitude toward them.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein clashed Friday with a group of children over climate change policy, criticizing their requests that she back the Green New Deal, accusing them of presenting an ultimatum and contrasting their inability to vote with her three decades in office.

Generally, if a lawmaker explains California's new plurality vote system to a seven-year-old, they're entering gaffe territory.

This is a fight for our generation's survival.

After the group shared information they said originated from scientists talking about climate change, Feinstein replied: "You know what's interesting about this group?"

Later in the encounter, Feinstein could be heard telling the group she's "trying to do the best" she can, "which was to write a responsible resolution". "You come in here and say, it has to my way or the highway. I have been and remain committed to doing everything I can to enact real, meaningful climate change legislation", Feinstein said.

In the video, Feinstein also asks a girl how old she is as the girl says politicians should listen to the people they represent. One of the Sunrise adults chimes in, "We're asking you to be fearless and do this for us and your grandchildren.Any plan that doesn't take bold, transformative action is not going to be what we need".

SpaceX Falcon 9 aces launch and landing after "most challenging reentry" yet
Data will be relayed via the US space agency NASA's Deep Space Network to SpaceIL's Israel-based ground station Yehud. The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off Thursday at 8:45 p.m. local time from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

Feinstein subsequently had copies of the resolution that she supports handed out to the activists in the room.

Later Friday, Feinstein issued a statement calling the debate a "spirited discussion" and said "I want the children to know they were heard loud and clear".

The arrogance. "Ive been doing this for 30 years".

"Well the reason why I can't is because there's no way to pay for it", Feinstein responded. The kids, and at least one adult, presented Feinstein with a handwritten letter asking her to vote "yes" on the progressive climate plan. "Maybe people should listen a little bit".

The Senate resolution says that the federal government should create a Green New Deal "to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for all communities and workers" and calls in part for "meeting 100 percent of the power demand in the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources".

"Until then, we're in charge - and you're just shouting from the cheap seats", Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. "I've been doing this for 30 years".

"Great, I will", the woman interrupts.

"We have our own Green New Deal, piece of legislation". Toward the end of the longer video, the senator is seen speaking with one of the students about a potential internship opportunity.
