But that will change in September as Porsche unveils the production version of the Taycan, and starts to make inroads in to an order book which already stretches beyond 20,000. Porsche has said that should cut the 0-60 miles per hour time to under 3.5 seconds, but hasn't given a specific figure. Yet now we know that we are talking about not one, but two battery variants.

Porsche is parent Volkswagen's most profitable brand and its success is vital for the group to pull off the industry's most aggressive push into electric vehicles. Porsche has not confirmed this, but it is saying deliveries to customers will begin before the end of the year.

"The overwhelming interest in the Taycan shows us that our customers and fans are just as excited about the first Porsche electric athlete as we are - and we've therefore increased our production capacities", said in a statement Detlev von Platen, Porsche executive in charge with sales. The company is considering some strategies to keep buyers happy while they wait, in fact, according to CEO Oliver Blume. The Taycan is expected to start around $90,000, according to The Drive.

DeSean Jackson bids farewell to Bucs on social media
Jackson reportedly requested a trade before the deadline in October, though the Buccaneers ultimately did not deal him. He has one year left on his current contract and has expressed some frustration with Tampa Bay's offense.

It's starting to look like Porsche's forthcoming Taycan is poised to give Tesla some serious competition in the luxury EV space. Pricing for the longer-range version has not been confirmed, nor specifications of each model.

The great interest has led to Porsche increasing its production capacity from 20,000 to 40,000 electric cars per year this January. After the start of production of the electric auto Porsche will take up the extension of the family.
