Every time Donald Trump makes an appearance with his wife Melania in public, the internet jokes about the fact that she often appears to look so different, to the point that there are genuine theories that she has a body double.

However, after almost three years, the President has responded to the rumours.

Trump blames the so-called "fake news" for altering the photos and says, "They are only getting more deranged with time!".

What's unclear in the president's tweet is what he meant by the media photoshopping images of the First Lady.

Melania Trump's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, blasted the segment in a post on Twitter on Monday morning.

A weird claim that First Lady Melania Trump is sometimes replaced by another woman hidden behind large sunglasses and similar outfits resurfaced after Trump made a trip to the site of a deadly tornado in Alabama last week.

The FAA has refused to ground the Boeing 737 Max 8, leaving the United States in an increasingly small minority, the BBC reports. The still unexplained crash followed another involving a Boeing 737 MAX in Indonesia five months ago that killed 189 people.

"I spent, like, an hour on Saturday involved in this", co-host Sunny Hostin said.

"That one does not look like her, sorry", Behar said. "Look how short she looks".

On "Fox & Friends", contributor Tammy Bruce said the ladies of "The View" were using the conspiracy theory as "an excuse to mock the first lady".

"@flotus & @potus traveled to Alabama to pay their respects & comfort victims of the tornado devastation".

"I've always found it sad that a group of women spend so much time attacking another woman, whose only goal is to help children, but yesterday's episode went beyond the petty mean-girl spirit that we've grown accustomed to", Grisham told the Daily Caller.

"People died, people lost family and people are hurting in Alabama", Grisham continued in her statement.
