Mass shooting reported at mosque in New Zealand

Multiple people have been shot dead in shootings at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch during Friday afternoon prayers. We tried to get everyone to run away from the area because we couldn't open the door for everyone.

The alleged killer is believed to have live-streamed the shooting on Facebook.

New Zealand police were hunting "an active shooter" in the center of Christchurch city Friday after a gunman opened fire at a mosque inflicting several casualties.

An unconfirmed report on Newshub said the death toll could be as high as 27.

Media in New Zealand said people have been evacuated from near a second mosque in Linwood, Christchurch, with police swarming on the site.

Police say officers are responding to a "serious and evolving" situation involving an active shooter. Bush also recommended that residents across the city remain off the streets and indoors. reports the emergency department at Christchurch Hospital has been cleared out. "We are working to have any footage removed".

A video has been posted on YouTube that appears to show the mass killing at a Deans Ave mosque in Central Christchurch.

The gunman in New Zealand had "for Rotterham" written on his rifle magazine together with names of other mass shooters.

"They were on the bus, which was just pulling up to the mosque when the shooting begun, ” Mario Villavarayen, strength and conditioning coach of the Bangladesh cricket team, told Reuters in a message".

He said some managed to escape through windows and doors but "many people had been hit, some as young as 16".
