There were several players in the Australian team who produced outstanding performances, most notably opener Usman Khawaja, who was the highest scorer of the series with two centuries and an equal number of half-centuries. Australia won just two ODI matches previous year, the fewest ODI victories since 1978 when it played only two one-day internationals.

"People have written us off for quite a while now".

"It is a very god result, given how tough a summer it has been".

Australia beat India by 35 runs in the fifth one-day global in Delhi to complete their comeback from 2-0 down and win the five-match series 3-2.

"The resilience and fight that we showed being down 0-2 it would have been easy to roll over in those small moments in the game, just let them drift away and India win the series", Finch said after Australia's win in the series-deciding final match at Feroz Shah Kotla. In between, they won six bilateral ODI series at home.

"No one will be forced to do something but eventually, everyone knows that no one wants to miss the bus for the World Cup", Kohli stressed further. India thus stood defeated on home soil - their first since 2015; and Virat Kohli's first since he took over the reins from MS Dhoni.

"Man of the series in a one-day tournament in India, I wasn't even in the one-day side this time previous year", he told reporters after the match.

No reason, however, was given by the prosecutors in the court for rejecting Huong's appeal but letting Aisyah go free. Prosecutors had sprung a surprise on Monday by asking the court to drop the charge against Siti Aisyah and free her.

Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor on Wednesday took a jibe at India while congratulating Pakistan-born Australian batsman Usman Khawaja for his match-winning performance against the Indian cricket team.

The win is Australia's third in a row of the tour, seeing them overturn a 2-0 series deficit.

Many have pointed out that Dhoni's experience is vital for India as the team heads to the World Cup.

"We know how hard it is to win in India", he said. "It has been an unbelievable ride since India arrived in Australia", Langer said.

Kedar Jadhav (44) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (46) threatened to deny Australia with a 91-run partnership, but Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson removed them in successive balls and India ultimately fell some way short on 237 all out, losing their last wicket to the final ball of the innings.

The 12-month bans handed down to Smith and Warner by Cricket Australia for their role in the Cape Town ball-tampering incident end on March 28 and the duo are expected to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) before the World Cup starting May 30.

The importance of the five-match series against the world champions - India's last before this year's World Cup - was not lost on Kohli who wanted to assess the team's preparedness for the showpiece event in England and Wales.
