Auto customization is a big feature of many racing games, but not often a feature you see in kart-racers, or if you do see it, it's never fleshed out.

During the SXSW panel for Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega's Takashi Iizuka confirmed at the very end that the next Sonic game is in development.

Anil Ambani’s RCom pays ₹4.62 billion to Ericsson
The judges warned that Ambani would be jailed for three months if 4.5 billion rupees were not stumped up within a month. When contacted, an Ericsson spokesperson confirmed the development.

During SXSW this week, Sega unveiled a new customization feature that will be in Team Sonic Racing and allow you to trick out your ride. We get to see performance parts, a ton of paint options, vinyls, decals, and even different horns. The series will be directed by Tyson Hesse and Neko Productions, who produced the well-received Sonic Mania Adventures web series. The game will focus on racing in a team and is being developed by SUMO Digital. Sonic Team also announced that Sonic Team has begun production on the next Sonic the Hedgehog title. It's the first part of a series and features Sonic, Amy, Shadow, and Eggman's team attempting to cross the line first. With Crash Team Racing making a comeback, it looks like 2019 may just shape up to be the year of the kart racer as a certain other blue-spiked hair hero from yesteryear aims to go fast and then some when he hits the track. The second video is equally worth listening to as the folks at SEGA have released another piece of music from the upcoming game.

It will be available for PS4, Switch and Xbox One on May 21. Though the character creator featured in Sonic Forces won't be returning.
