The He-Man movie, is being produced by Sony and toymaker Mattel's film arm, Mattel Films, with the screenwriters of Iron Man, Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, having penned the script.

In the 1980's Mattel launched their highly successful He-Man and the Masters of the Universe toy line, which included an expanding cast of colorful characters with unusual gimmicks like Man-E-Faces, who can transform his head from human to robot to monster, or Mekaneck, whose neck could extend.

David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) was once attached to write and direct, he still remains aboard as an executive producer.

The He-Man story follows Prince Adam, who is the heir to the throne of planet Eternia.

Motive behind Utrecht tram shooting still unclear
Turkish state news agency Anadolu, citing "relatives" of the alleged assailant, said it may have been a possible "family dispute". Eyewitnesses said the killer appeared to be aiming at a woman when he opened fire on the tram in Utrecht at 9.45am on Monday.

But when danger arises - usually thanks to Skeletor and his band of alien miscreants - he holds aloft the "sword of power" to defend Castle Grayskull, becoming He-Man, while Cringer becomes the fearless Battle Cat.

Centineo recently worked with Sony Pictures on another reboot, Charlies Angels, with Variety reporting the studio was "eager" to work with him again.

The film is based on Mattel's line of action figures, which went on to spawn a 1987 starring Dolph Lundgren as the swole, blonde-mopped hero. A reboot series aired on Cartoon Network in 2002.

Sony and Mattel haven't set an official release date for Masters of the Universe, but the last we heard, the film was set to start production in mid-July 2019. Centineo would play the dual roles of Prince Adam and He-Man - characters who, like Billy Batson and Shazam, are seemingly distinct entities before a lightning strike initiates a change. The film is expected to be directed by Adam and Aaron Nee. Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
