Pompeo: God May Have Sent Trump To Save Israel From Iran

Pompeo, now visiting the Middle East, waded into biblical waters when asked by a local correspondent for the Christian Broadcasting Network, in an exclusive one-on-one interview Thursday: "Jews worldwide and here in Jerusalem are talking about the fact that Esther 2,500 years ago saved the Jewish people with God's help from Haman", the anti-Semitic grand vizier of the Persian Empire, who meant to kill the Jews.

On Thursday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo compared President Donald Trump to the biblical Queen Esther, who saved the Jewish people from the wicked Haman.

"I am confident that the Lord is at work here", he added.

Apparently, Pompeo truly believes that Trump was sent by God to save Israel, and that the Golan is to be the first USA bestowed "gift" bringing the world closer to "end times" fulfillment.

Before his question, Mitchell reminded Pompeo that the story of Esther's triumph is the basis for the celebration of Purim, a holiday which commemorates the saving of the Jewish people.

Since Trump's inauguration, the United States have taken more and more of a pro-Israel stance.

Trump has ramped up the pressure on Iran since taking office, quitting the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers last May and renewing American sanctions, which had been eased in exchange for curbs on Tehran's nuclear program.

It was Woods performance in the Players Championship that really caught the eye, with rounds of 65 and 69 during the weekend. With the leaders in the US Open normally hovering around par, this produces a great opportunity for Woods to capitalize.

President Trump has supported Israel since the beginning of his campaign for the presidency. Trump moved the us embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, upending the worldwide consensus that a permanent two-state solution would first need to be reached so Israel and Palestine could jointly share the city as their capital.

Trump's announcement came as Pompeo was wrapping up a two-day visit to Jerusalem during which he lauded warm ties with Israel, met with Netanyahu on at least three separate occasions and promised to step up pressure on Iran.

In a tweet Thursday, Trump had declared: "After 52 years [since the war] it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the state of Israel and regional stability!"

On March 21, the president announced that it was time to back Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights that Israel seized from Syria in 1967.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is facing one of his toughest election challenges in years next month, said Trump "has just made history" by declaring that Israel should have sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

While 151 countries voted in support of the resolution, only Israel and the US voted against it. "It was special for me as a Christian".

CBN News asked Pompeo if he believes Trump could be a modern-day Esther by helping defend Israel from threats like Iran.

When Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, he said it did not determine the city's final borders.
