At launch, the Disney+ streaming library will also include 18 Pixar titles, 13 Disney animated classics from the Disney Vault, every Star Wars movie, Marvel films, over 250 hours of National Geographic programming, and Disney Channel original movies.

Thus far, Disney+ has announced Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, Falcon & Winter Soldier with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, WandaVision (that's the name!) with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, and an animated What If? show centered around alternate versions of classic Marvel stories. "These will be both new and continuing stories and one of the things we're most excited about is that these will be major storylines set in the MCU with ramifications that will be felt both in the Disney+ shows we're producing and our features on the big screen".

Disney Plus will launch in the United States on 12 November, at a cost of US$6.99 a month.

The plunge into video streaming is likely to confront Disney with new challenges.

Captain Marvel will be available on the service from Day 1.

A ton of content will be available when the service launches and within the first year, there will be more than 25 original series and 10 original films, documentaries, and specials released. All of the studio's short films, including Bao, will be available at launch.

Indeed, Disney used the day to showcase all the ways in which it is the world's biggest entertainment company, with tentacles and entities that expand around the globe.
