5-year-old child hurt in Mall of America incident

Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda was arrested in the mall transit station after fleeing the scene of the child's fall, Bloomington police said.

Brian Johnson told WCCO-TV the woman was screaming, "Everybody pray, everybody pray".

He reportedly sprinted away from the scene after pushing or throwing the child, but was apprehended while still in the mall.

Police in Minnesota say a 5-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries when he was pushed or thrown from a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America. 'The child has been transported to the hospital and has been receiving care'.

A 24-year-old male is being held at the Bloomington Police Department in relation to the incident. An older man tried to stop the suspect and was assaulted by him, witnesses told police.

"Earlier today, Mall of America security was notified of an incident involving a child falling from one of the upper floors". Our immediate and only concern is for the well-being of the family and the child, as well as for any individuals who may have witnessed the incident. He said the suspect immediately took off running but was quickly found and arrested at the mall. The police chief said this appears to have been an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.

Police in Bloomington tweeted that a 5-year-old child suffered injuries and was being treated at a hospital Friday.
