He went on: "The suspect was seen fleeing the scene immediately after the incident happened, he was located very quickly and he was arrested and brought to The Bloomington Police Department".

Witnesses say a woman at the mall was screaming hysterically after the child was thrown.

Brian Johnson told WCCO-TV the woman was screaming, "Everybody pray, everybody pray".

Landen was grabbed and thrown from the balcony onto the mall's tile flooring on Friday morning; Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, of Minneapolis, has been charged with attempted homicide.

Court records show that Aranda has a history of convictions for misdemeanor offenses.

He had been banned from Mall of America in the past and was convicted of misdemeanors in two incidents there in 2015, court records show. "The family and this child are in our thoughts and prayers, and I know the family appreciates all the thoughts and prayers that they can get from the they hope for a full recovery of their child". Aranda also was accused of walking into a mall store and sweeping his hand across a display table, breaking glasses.

The boy fell three floors after being pushed or thrown over a railing, according to Bloomington cops.

In a separate incident three months later, Aranda reportedly threw ice water and tea at a woman in a mall restaurant when she declined to buy him food, CNN reported.

Now they have the Tampa Bay on the ropes and are enticingly closer to winning the first playoff series in franchise history. He was also assessed a minor penalty for tripping Nutivaara seconds before the boarding incident.

Aranda in that case told authorities he got "angry after he read something on the Facebook" and so smashed five computers, screens and keyboards, court records show, citing a recorded statement.

Potts says criminal charges will likely be filed against Aranda by mid-day on Monday.

"We think this is a very isolated event", Potts said. "But as to why he did that - it's still something we're looking into and trying to figure out".

Mall of America security tracked Aranda's location using cameras in the mall, allowing Bloomington police to apprehend him in the mall's transit station. It opened in 1992, has more than 520 stores and is visited by 40 million visitors annually, according to its website.

Attractions include Nickelodeon Universe indoor amusement park and Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium. Al-Shabab fighters attacked an upscale Kenyan mall in 2013 in a siege that left 67 people dead.

Potts said the Mall of America will often give a no-trespass order to offenders, with a time limit appropriate to the crime. The man said he was inspired by the Islamic State when he stabbed the brothers in a dressing room area in November 2017.

"A monster of a man threw him from a 3rd floor balcony at the mall", the boy's cousin, April, posted on Instagram, the Daily Mail reported. The melee was caught on YouTube, but police concluded the brawl-the worst case of violence at the mall in more than 15 years-was not organized through social media as initially feared.
