Philadelphia Eagles' cornerback Jalen Mills was arrested for a fight with Washington Wizards forward Devin Robinson.

Karimah Bilal, program manager for the Metropolitan Police Department's office of communications, confirmed in an email to The Associated Press that the Mills named in the police report is the Eagles player.

Both players were arrested for disorderly affray, a charge for public fighting.

The Washington Post's Candace Buckner first reported Saturday that the two athletes had a "verbal altercation that escalated into a fight on the sidewalk near the Opera Ultra Lounge at 2:56 a.m".

The Eagles issued a short statement Saturday afternoon: "The Philadelphia Eagles are aware of the situation involving defensive back Jalen Mills and are continuing to gather more information. We will not extend a qualifying offer to him for the 2019-20 season", the team's statement said.

Robinson required a visit to the hospital as a result, and both men were arrested. "No further comment will be provided at this time".

Robinson appeared in seven of the Wizards' 82 games last season and also played for their National Basketball Association G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.

Mills, a three-year member of the Eagles, broke up nine passes over eight contests last season, and he collected three interceptions in 2017.

Robinson, meanwhile, played sparsely with the Wizards, appearing in just seven games, and his team quickly moved on after the incident.

Mills was a seventh-round pick by the Eagles in the 2016 NFL Draft.
