Bruins fall to Toronto 3-2; Leafs lead series 2-1

That helped the Leafs keep their equilibrium, but the Bruins were defensively sound, getting in front of a lot of Leafs shots in the early going. They were powerless to stop it.

There was an expectant feeling in the air as Auston Matthews scored his first of the post-season and Frederik Andersen stopped 35 shots Monday to give Toronto a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. The latter declined to comment on the incident when he met with reporters after the game.

It was night and day from Game 2 in Boston, when the Bruins bullied their way to a 4-1 victory. "In the end that cost us". "We just have to get our team ready to play". We all knew that.

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy didn't think the knee-on-knee hit was questionable. "How do you respond?" Attack when you have the chance. Kadri was also suspened for the final three games of the Leafs' 2018 playoff loss to Boston.

Shortly after the game, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Kadri will have an in-person hearing for his actions, which led to a 5-minute major penalty in the third period Saturday night. That set a tone for the home team, and the full house at Scotiabank Arena was raucous and thrilled to see their team perform at a consistently high level. He had a goal and an assist in the first two games of the postseason.

There would be no repeat on this night. When it comes to injuries though, this isn't the Bruins' first rodeo! Things won't come easy for the Bruins in this one though as they have struggled to find a way to win in recent trips to Toronto as they are 2-7 in their last 9 trips to the Ontario capital and they are just 1-5 in their last 6 playoff games as an underdog which are two trends favoring the Buds in this one.

The Bruins continued to push the physical side, much to the delight of the boisterous Boston crowd. They have not appeared in the Stanley Cup since 1967. "We weathered the storm as well as we could". "Looking back on it, shoulder-to-shoulder".

A poll released last week found that just 17 percent of Americans said they paid less under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. He also says a package of corporate and individual tax cuts he signed into law in 2017 are "working very, very well".

Muzzin crushed Torey Krug along the boards midway through the period on a hit that sent the wobbly Bruins defenceman to Boston's locker room.

Babcock's options as replacements for his third-line centre include Marleau and William Nylander, but neither scenario is ideal. Kadri stayed down, skated off on his own and returned for the third.

"For me to sit back the next day and evaluate that, that's not in my control".

Kadri was then felled by a knee-on-knee hit - again from DeBrusk - that resulted in him limping off before he eventually returned to the fray.

Promoted to the first power-play unit because of Kadri's suspension, Johnsson made it 3-1 with his first-career playoff goal with 2:48 left in the period when he roofed a backhand over Rask after a nice feed from Tavares as Toronto connected for a second time on the man advantage after going 0 for 4 in the first two games.

The Leafs' lead didn't last long, as Bruins centre David Krejci netted his first of the playoffs at the 3:30 mark to tie it up.

"He's obviously gritty, a guy who does it right, a big part of the team", Matthews said.
