In his previous head coaching job, which was the first full-time stint of his coaching career, Walton went 98-148 in three seasons with the Lakers.

The Lakers' mediocre play has led to rumors that head coach Luke Walton will be fired this offseason. Pelinka has been leading the search for a new head coach, and it's said that Williams is a very strong candidate.

Walton and the Lakers "mutually agreed to part ways" on Friday, ending an eventful week in Los Angeles after Magic Johnson unexpectedly stepped down from his position as president.

Per Woj, the Lakers plan to meet with Williams between Games 2 and 3 of their series with the Nets.

"I think when you start talking about the first round of the draft, I think it's going to be dominated by defensive lineman". This deal would essentially give the Jets back the picks that they traded the Colts past year to move up for Darnold.

As the Cleveland Cavaliers work towards rebuilding their franchise, the front office has elected to move on from head coach Larry Drew and look for a new face to represent the team. As Williams is now under contract with Philadelphia, an interview would have to go through the team's front office.

There is no doubt that if the Lakers can strike a deal to get Williams on board, then they will nearly certainly have an elite coach to guide them moving forward. Many are saying Walton was let go because of a bad season the team had, despite having LeBron James on their roster.

Per KIngs policy, no terms of Walton's contract were made public, but The Athletic reported on Saturday that the deal is expected to run through 2022-23.

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reports that the Lakers have received permission from the Miami Heat to interview assistant coach Juwan Howard. Lue coached current Lakers star LeBron James from 2014-18 with the Cavs.
