The ghost investigator reportedly died peacefully on Thursday evening, according to her grandson Chris McKinnell.

Lorraine and Ed Warren's investigation into the Amityville, New York, murders served as the basis of "The Amityville Horror" movies and, more recently, "The Conjuring" series. "She was happy and laughing until the very end".

'She was my angel and my hero, and she will be deeply missed. Please join us in celebrating her life and honouring her attractive soul. Because, you can look at people but I can look further, and I love that. "And for that, all I can say is that it is my absolute honor to have been able to share the joy, knowledge, wisdom, mentorship and humanity that I experienced with her with all of you".

"Last night my grandmother, Lorraine Warren, quietly and peacefully left us to join her beloved Ed", the post reads. She also spent time at her CT home with actress Vera Farmiga, who portrays Warren in the movie and its sequels. She was a remarkable, loving, compassionate and giving soul. "I had the pleasure of meeting her & it will be a meeting I'll never forget". The organization's website said Lorraine Warren had "decided to retire from active investigations regarding the areas of haunted homes and demonic infestations/possessions" but was still a consultant to the organization at the time of her death. "May God Bless her".

Warren and her late husband Ed were the chief investigators in infamous paranormal cases that were made into films like The Amityville Horror and The Conjuring series. She was best known for her leading role in investigating the Amityville horror hauntings, which inspired the 2013 horror film The Conjuring. Prequel Annabelle was released the following year and The Conjuring 2 in 2016. Farmiga will portray Warren again in this summer's Annabelle Comes Home.

Ed passed away on August 23rd, 2006, and Lorraine continued to help people around the world with the assistance of her son-in-law, Tony Spera. "From a deep feeling of sorrow, a deep feeling of gratitude emerges. She wore a helmet of salvation, she dawned her sword..."

"Righteousness was her breastplate, and she has touched my life so". "Lorraine and her mother used to come every Wednesday night", Ed said later.

Actor Patrick Wilson also paid a heartfelt tribute, and wrote: "The heavens will surely burn a little brighter tonight". "I'd see Lorraine coming in and we started talking, and we became friends".
