Celebrity news outlet TMZ reported Walton had invited the woman, a sports reporter, to meet him at his hotel to discuss a book she was writing.

The suit also said she claims she screamed for him to stop and tried to free herself and eventually let her go.

Tennant claims when Walton finally released his grasp, she opened the door and left, but could hear him say, "Good to see you". He then "began forcing kisses on her neck, face and chest".

The Los Angeles Times reports that Tennant's lawyer declined to say whether she reported the alleged assault to police.

According to TMZ, former Sportsnet LA host Kelli Tennant is suing Luke Walton for a sexual assault that happened while he was a member of the Warriors coaching staff.

"We are aware of the report and are gathering additional information", the Kings said in a statement, according to NBC Sports' Kurt Helin.

Tennant, who has known Walton for years, wanted the former Lakers player to write the foreword to her new book.

Tennant says Walton eventually let her up from the bed, but as she headed towards the door to leave the room, the former National Basketball Association star grabbed her from behind and forced his body up against hers.

TMZ reported the incident took place before Walton became head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Walton quickly got hired by the Kings, who fired Dave Joerger.

The article goes into further detail, alleging that Walton went on to grope her breasts and groin before leaving the room.
