Oshie's absence will make the Capitals' attempt to defend their Stanley Cup measurably harder. He will not return for the remainder of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Carolina Hurricanes are averaging 2.4 goals per game and are scoring on 15 percent of their power play opportunities. Game 5 was Saturday, it's time for Game 6, where the score starts 0-0 and the fate of the Carolina Hurricanes will be decided by the Carolina Hurricanes and the series will go with whatever performance the Hurricanes give us in this game and the possible next one. Guys are buzzing and guys are giving each other energy.

"They scored a couple power-play goals, we stunk it up on ours", Carolina captain Justin Williams said. He plays in Washington's top-six forward corps and on the team's top power-play unit. Devante Smith-Pelly, a postseason hero from past year, was recently called up from the Hershey Bears, so he could be a part of the solution, along with Andre Burakovsky, Carl Hagelin, and Lars Eller. It's something the Capitals feed off, from their biggest players landing the kind of hits that elicit a reaction from the crowd or the bench to their smallest players doing their part by not coughing the puck up along the wall and being a nuisance that way. Three successful penalty kills in the second period of what was then a one-goal game helped the Capitals blow the game open.

The Caps have the depth to overcome Oshie's injury thanks to Wilson and Connolly.

Local media reported 25 people were also killed in an attack on an evangelical church in Batticaloa in Eastern Province. The NTJ is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that was linked a year ago to the vandalisation of Buddhist statues.

The NHL reviewed the play in Toronto and the call on the ice was upheld. Losing a player of Oshie's caliber is never easy.

Oshie was Washington's fifth-leading point scorer during the regular season (54 points), with 25 goals (second on the team). Jordan Martinook was back after a lower body injury kept him out of Game 5.

"In a first round that has included three series upsets and two division champions already knocked out, the Metropolitan Division champions smell blood, and the Central Division champions just want to stay in the playoffs a few more days".
