While the penultimate Game of Thrones outing seems to have divided people, though, it's worth noting that it wasn't necessarily a huge surprise. The queen has left the building.

In recent Game of Thrones episodes, we've watched Daenerys Targaryen morph into several forms: meek exiled princess, sharp survivor, firewalking dragon mother, beloved queen.

Many members of the show's cast have improved over the years, but Headey has been winning raves from critics from the very start - since the early episodes of season 1 Headey has perfectly delivered Cersei's uniquely toxic mix of pride, vindictiveness, impatience, cunning, and spite.

Fans were shocked by the events of the Game of Thrones episode five, which saw Daenerys set fire to the city of King's Landing - and the last ever trailer for the entire series hints at the aftermath of her decision to lay waste to the capital. (WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD). Ahead of last Sunday night's episode, the show released a promo shot featuring Cersei Lannister with her arms around her brother/lover Jaime Lannister However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Jaime's right hand had miraculously grown back despite being severed off Season 3.

If so, they went out together, exactly as they should have. No, she had much more to do after that after seeing Missandei executed. So as frustrating as it was for fans to see Jaime slide back into his old ways after finding such a good match with Ser Brienne, it was pretty on-brand.

"This horse reminded me of Ned Stark for some reason..." they said simply.

Lena, 45, told Entertainment Weekly she had "mixed feelings" about her character's abrupt ending as she hoped Cersei would have a "big piece" or die in a dramatic fight. "I don't wanna be king", he said.
