"It's a brand new world!" one of the students says during the wedding.

On this week's Arthur season premiere, Arthur and the gang learn that their teacher, Mr. Ratburn, is getting married, which they think is "wrong" because "teachers don't get married!"

Children's show Arthur has been all over the internet lately after revealing that one of the main character's in the show is gay. In the animated series' season 22 premiere episode, which was titled "Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone", Arthur's teacher, Mr. Ratburn is confirmed to be gay and engaged to another male character. Of course, the kids don't like her and crack open a plan to stop the wedding at any cost.

Dog disease found in Iowa that can infect people
A handout from Iowa State University says, among other things, to "always wash your hands after touching animals". State health officials say symptoms for humans include fever, sweats, headache , joint pain and weakness.

The word "lesbian" was not used in the episode, nor was the word "gay" used in the episode about Mr. Ratburn. However, the show received praise for teaching children that men can marry men and women can marry women.

Some social media users erupted with excitement when they discovered the wedding and applauded the children's show for representing a same-sex couple.

The group of chums grow more anxious when they spy Mr Ratburn having lunch with an uptight woman. As it happens, Mr. Ratburn is officially a married man, having gotten hitched to a man (or whatever animal he may be - an aardvark, perhaps?) by the name of Patrick. Little do they realize, the woman in question is actually Mr. Ratburn's sister, who just wants the best for his big day.
