Pacquiao, 40, owns the World Boxing Association "regular" welterweight title, while Thurman holds the WBA "super" welterweight strap.

Manny Pacquiao says he is taking on one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in boxing when he faces Keith Thurman in the United States this summer.

Thurman had been idle since edging Danny Garcia by split decision in March of 2017 to unify two 147-pound titles.

After that fight, Pacquiao said he meant to fight again in July, which is when he has time off from his job as a senator in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Thurman ended nearly two years out of boxing the following weekend, when he clinched a unanimous decision against American compatriot Josesito Lopez to retain the "super" welterweight belt.

Orange County is a potential hotspot for a measles outbreak, study says
Overall vaccination rates of 90 to 95% are required in order to provide what is called "herd immunity", according to CBS News. Since measles is still common in many countries, unvaccinated travelers bring measles to the US and it can spread.

He has faced and beaten two former welterweight champions, Robert Guerrero and Danny Garcia, and one current welterweight champion of the world, Shawn Porter. Still, Pacquiao's team said it would not finalize any fight until after Pacquiao was done campaigning for candidates for Monday's elections in the Philippines. "That is why I am fighting him".

Pacquiao dominated Adrien Broner for 12 rounds in his last bout on January 19 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

"Maybe Brooklyn, maybe Vegas, wherever Manny Pacquiao wants it", Thurman said in January. "It's an exciting fight and I think the fans would love it". "After signing with Al Haymon and the PBC, Pacquiao has a clear play and has a mission to fight the best and that's where we at", he added.

A scheduled press tour of the fight promoted by Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) is set on May 20 in New York City and May 21 in Los Angeles City before his initial training camp starts in the Philippines. If we get that fight, we'd be happy to do it for ourselves and the fans'.
