Apple TV's "Channels" subscriptions and TV app overhaul are here

With this new Apple TV Channels interface, users will be able to directly add their paid streaming services directly into the Apple-design UI, including fan favorites like Showtime and Starz.

Apple has started rolling out its TV app in over 100 countries that includes India, which would run across devices, including iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs and all of the Samsung smart TVs that are part of its 2019 line-up. Same goes for Samsung smart TVs from 2019, and select 2018 model sets.

In the US the service will offer access to Starz, Smithsonian Channel, Epix, Tastemade and new services like MTV Hits. Apple made sure to point out that the Apple TV app is the only place where HBO subscribers can legally download episodes of the hit show Game of Thrones, which is approaching its grand finale (viewers outside the USA have other options).

On the Watch Now tab, scroll down until you see the Subscribe to Apple TV Channels section. However, before you can use Apple Pay, you'll have to head to Settings / iTunes & App Store, select your Apple ID email and than choose View Apple ID / Manage Payments / Add Payment Method.

Apple surprised us all when it announced its TV app would be coming to third-party devices.

The iOS 12.3 update brings in improvements in different apps like Apple News+, Apple Music, Apple TV Remote, AirPlay 2 and CarPlay.

The tech giant also boasted the Apple TV app is the "first and only place" where subscribers to HBO can download movies and TV shows for offline viewing.

The new app is available with the iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3 releases and will be available on Mac this fall. And also starting today, customers with AirPlay 2-enabled Samsung smart TVs can stream videos and other content from their iPhone, iPad or Mac directly to their smart TVs; this requires customers to update to iOS 12.3 or macOS 10.14.5. Apple has even thought about the kids in the family with a "Kids" section that features curated content for children of all ages.

I suspected this might be true following Apple's original announcement of the new TV app, since these existing integrations rely on frameworks inherent to both iOS and tvOS themselves.
