Lucas Giolito allowed one run over seven innings, and Yonder Alonso and Tim Anderson both smacked fourth-inning home runs to lift the visiting Chicago White Sox to a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Jays (16-24) have now lost four series in a row and 10 of their past 12 games.

Interestingly, this is technically the second time that Jackson has been a member of the Blue Jays.

"To get them out of town was a good feeling, and get somebody else up there", reliever Daniel Hudson said.

Four of Toronto's first seven batters got hits, including three of the first four, but Giolito allowed just two batters to reach after the first. The Toronto pitching staff averages 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings, Marcus Stroman leads them with a mark of 7.8.

The White Sox did all of their damage in one inning against Toronto starter Aaron Sanchez, erupting for two home runs that tallied five runs all in the fourth as Chicago (18-21) went on to record a 5-1 win over Toronto and take the three-game set 2-1. "I think we're going to get there".

The Blue Jays have four starting pitchers on the injured list, including right-handers Clay Buchholz (shoulder) and Matt Shoemaker (out for the season after knee surgery) and left-handers Ryan Borucki (elbow) and Clayton Richard (right knee).

One for mom: Toronto's lone run came in the first inning.

Blue Jays prospect Vladimir Guerrero batted second, the highest he has hit in the order since his promotion to the majors.

White Sox: OF Eloy Jimenez (right ankle) ran the bases before the game.

Toronto's Grichuk exchanged comments with Anderson on social media last month after Anderson flipped his bat in a game against Kansas City, sparking a benches-clearing incident. Toronto scattered eight hits in the loss, leaving six on base for the game. When that happens, he will set a major league record by making an appearance with his 14th franchise. Jackson was pitching in Triple-A before the trade. OF Socrates Brito was designated for assignment. It was Grichuk's team-leading seventh home run of the season.

The Blue Jays agreed Saturday to send $30,000 to Oakland for acquire RHP Edwin Jackson.

Stroman (1-6) was angry when removed from yet another start when he received little run support. In his career, Sanchez is 0-0 with a 3.07 ERA and 13 strikeouts against the White Sox.
