A Myanmar pilot saved the lives of 89 people on board including 7 crew members after managing safe landing of a Myanmar Airlines flight without front wheels on Sunday.

Myanmar National Airlines, the state-run carrier, said in a statement the aircraft had departed from the city of Yangon and was approaching the airport serving the central city of Mandalay when the pilot was unable to extend the front landing gear.

A plane was forced into an emergency - and miraculous - landing Sunday without any front wheels. The plane, a Brazilian Embraer 190 was carrying more than 100 people. The passengers were evacuated with proper emergency evacuations by the cabin crew as well.

Myanmar Airlines Flight 103 was headed from Yangon to Mandalay when the pilot discovered the problem. "After circling nearly two times, the captain said they were going to make an emergency landing", he said.

Footage shows the plane landing in impressively graceful fashion before its nose tips forwards and grinds along the ground, with the aircraft eventually coming to a halt further down the runway. The pilot tried a backup emergency procedure to pull down the wheels but that was unsuccessful.

Don't count out the interest of teams like Manchester United, in need of a summer makeover, and Paris Saint-Germain if Neymar happens to leave, though that feels unlikely.

Captain Myat Moe Aung burned excess fuel to reduce the craft's weight the airline said.

Video purportedly shot by one of the passengers and posted online showed an urgent but orderly evacuation of those on board.

The Myanmar National Airlines landed safely at Mandalay International Airport.

Myanmar Civil Aviation Department deputy director general Ye Htut Aung told AFP the pilots tried to lower the landing gear manually after the plane's systems failed to do so.
