GOP House Lawmaker: ‘Trump Has Engaged In Impeachable Conduct’

"Never a fan of @justinamash, a total lightweight who opposes me and some of our great Republican ideas and policies just for the sake of getting his name out there through controversy", Trump tweeted.

Amash, who represents Michigan's 3rd congressional district, wrote that he had read Mueller's full redacted report, but that few members of Congress had. Attorney General Barr has deliberately misrepresented Mueller's report. 2.

Barr's report will likely cover allegations that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had misused the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in order to place a wiretap on Trump's former campaign adviser Carter Page.

Amash, who in an interview earlier this year refused to rule out running for president, made the remarks in a series of tweets that were widely circulated and promoted by the president's harshest critics.

Barr specifically acknowledged that the period between Election Day and Inauguration Day will be key, saying "some very unusual developments" took place in that time - including the early January 2017 briefing intelligence officials gave to the president at Trump Tower and "the leaking of information subsequent to that meeting".

No U.S. president has ever been removed from office as a direct result of the U.S. Constitution's impeachment process.

Attorney General Barr said he had determined that a case for obstruction was not warranted. Although Mueller said he did not find evidence that the Trump campaign worked with the Russians, he left open the question of whether Trump should be prosecuted for obstruction of justice for acts including the firing of FBI Director James Comey and looking for ways to dismiss Mueller.

He later told reporters there was no chance of getting even part of a Brexit deal ratified by the end of July. And in a statement said that he had made a bad mistake in trusting Theresa May to deliver Brexit.

"Justin Amash has reached a different conclusion than I have", Romney said.

But Rep. Justin Amash stopped short of calling on Congress to begin impeachment proceedings against Trump, which many Democrats have been agitating for.

"Contrary to Barr's portrayal, Mueller's report reveals that President Trump engaged in specific actions and a pattern of behavior that meet the threshold for impeachment, " the congressman tweeted.

Amash's comments on Saturday with regard to impeachment went further than even many members of House Democratic leadership.

However House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have warned against it.

Romney said, "I think every individual has to make their own judgment".

For instance, during the May 1 questioning, when asked about "unauthorized media contact", Barr responded, "We have multiple criminal leak investigations under way". "I've got an impeachment investigation resolution you're going to want to cosponsor", she wrote in response to Amash's thread.
