Dressbarn, which has sold women's clothes for almost 60 years, announced Monday that it plan to close all of its 650 locations, the Associated Press reported.

"For more than 50 years, Dressbarn has served women's fashion needs, and we thank all of our dedicated associates for their commitment to Dressbarn and our valued customers", the retailer's Chief Financial Officer Steven Taylor said in a statement.

It's another sign of hard times for USA retailers, as stores close across the country.

Dressbarn said their stores and website will continue running normally during this period.

The Dress Barn closure pushes the number of retail closings to almost 7,000 and completely eclipses the record number of store closures reported in 2018.

Dressbarn is owned by Mahwah, New Jersey-based Ascena Retail Group, which is also the parent company of Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lane Bryant and Justice.

The show also stands as the most Emmy Award-winning primetime scripted series ever, with a record 47 awards. While the series finale drew mixed reviews from critics, its commercial dominance was not in dispute.

Yet another major US retailer has announced they'll be closing all of their stores. After acquiring several other women's and kids' clothing brands, the company reorganized its structure in 2011 and changed its name to Ascena.

The New Hartford Consumer Square Dressbarn, is among the locations set to close.

All Dressbarn stores are open for business, as is the chain's online site.

The company did not say when Dressbarn will shut all its stores, which include one in Duluth's Miller Hill Mall.

The announcement of when individual stores will close will come at a later time.
