Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne understands Liverpool players being disappointed at falling just short of winning the Premier League title but he does not have any sympathy for them.

Solskjaer initially inspired an incredible turnaround after Jose Mourinho's December departure, but they finished 2018-19 winless in six games in all competitions.

Asked how United change it, Rooney said: "I think the players need to fear someone".

"Well, fine then, go to Real Madrid I say, I think they are in a position now where they know that they need talent and talented players that are either in the prime of their career or coming into their prime". You have got social media.

"These players nearly always like to find someone to hide behind, whether that is on their social media or on the football pitch and that's what they are doing, " the ex-Man United star said.

Rooney doesn't name names, but his targets are pretty clear.

The Frenchman's daunting pace combined with precise finishing technique and deadly nature inside the box would allow him to lead the attack with Marcus Rashford and Martial.

Team-mate Jesse Lingard - who recorded more yellow cards than goals or assists this season - released his own clothing range. The French striker is touted be the replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

"When I suggest this, people always say it can't work and clubs would find a way of getting around it, but it has been effective in other sports around the world and I don't see any reason why football cannot follow suit". You have to take responsibility for them. "I have never spoken like 'this club wanted me, they contacted me". If that's what you're doing, you're sitting at the top of that business, you have to take responsibility for that.

And Rooney has claimed too many of Solskjaer's squad seem more concerned about their social media profiles than delivering on the pitch as warned them to stop hiding behind their agents and PRs.
