In both models, top speed is limited to 130 miles per hour when all-season tires are equipped and 155 miles per hour with summer tires.

Both will be available in South Africa from October this year, with the X5 M50i set to retail at R1 511 689 and the X7 M50i for R1 871 542. This is enough, says BMW, to shift the X5 M50i from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds and the X7 M50i in 4.7 seconds - just keep in mind to activate Launch Control. It was an X5 M50i, the replacement for the xDrive50i, and this model is now making its official debut together with the X7 M50i.

Powering both SUVs is the same engine from the new M850i, a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that makes 523 horsepower and 553 lb. -ft. of torque, an increase of 67 horsepower and 74 lb. -ft of torque over the standard -50i models.

In the BMW X5 M50i, the specs of the engine turn into an acceleration figure of 4.3 seconds, while the bigger BMW X7 M50i is a tad slower, reaching the coveted 62 miles per hour from a standstill in 4.7 seconds. Also on is a sporty-sounding M Sport exhaust system. The larger wheels and stickier tires crank the limited top speed to 155 miles per hour. The power is driven through an eight-speed torque converter-equipped eight-speed gearbox, which features bespoke electronic mapping including a launch control function.

Double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension has been fettled by the M team, with the X5 M50i combining it with Adaptive M Suspension. The latter allows ride height to be reduced by up to 20 mm when in Sport mode, or when speeds exceed 136 km/h.

New Jersey man charged after peeing on young cancer victim's memorial
Cops say Flippen recorded Bellace urinating on the memorial and was charged with having an open alcoholic beverage in a park. Clopp's father said that it was, "once again", his 9-year-old son who brought the community together.

Both vehicles have had their suspensions played with, the X5 receiving standard adaptive dampers, with the option to upgrade to the air suspension standard on the X7. Two optional packages sign on here, too, either 21- or 22-inch wheels in Orbit Grey or Black, the smaller of which get dressed in 285/45 all-season run-flat tires. Both are backed up by an M Sport braking system with blue calipers and M logos.

Additional features include unique door sill plates with illuminated M50i logo, M leather steering wheel, gear selector with M logo, Vernasca perforated leather upholstery with contrast stitching, Anthracite headliner in the X5 M50i and Alcantara Anthracite headliner in the X7 M50i.

Inside, there's BMW's Live Cockpit Professional and a Harman Kardon Surround Sound system.

The new X5 M50i and the X7 M50i (joining M50d variants in the respective ranges) will be produced from August 2019 at the Munich-based firm's plant in Spartanburg in the United States, with their local introductions scheduled for October 2019.
