Green has been named to the All-Defensive Team in each of the last five seasons, becoming the first player in franchise history to earn the honor in five-straight campaigns and tying Nate Thurmond for the most All-Defensive selections in Warriors history. He earned the league's best Defensive Real Plus-Minus for the second consecutive year, while leading the Jazz to being the second-best defensive team in the National Basketball Association behind the Milwaukee Bucks.

Holiday is the third player from New Orleans to earn multiple All-Defensive Team honors, joining Chris Paul (second team 2007-08; first team 2008-09) and Anthony Davis (second team 2014-15 and 2016-17; first team 2017-18). Philadelphia's Joel Embiid earned second-team center honors over Myles Turner, while Draymond Green and Kawhi Leonard were selected ahead of Houston's P.J. Tucker. Antetokounmpo averaged 1.5 blocks per game - the second-highest mark of his career - while Bledsoe added 1.5 steals per contest. Al Horford had four second team votes as a forward.
