Vivian Gomez recently shared a video of the odd occurrence on Facebook, which showed the "Dobby-like creature" walking amusing outside her residence, The Daily Dot reported. Asked whether it could be her 9-year-old son Bobby, Gomez replied, "I wouldn't let him out at dark by himself".

In the Harry Potter universe, a house elf is considered free once he receives a gift from his master - in Dobby's case, a sock - so one can only hope this house elf (or fidgety Fortnite addict?) had just received a pair of flip-flops before chicken dancing off into the darkness.

She added that her other two security cameras "didn't pick it up for some reason". Wobbling and flapping its arms, the creature can be seen walking quickly from the home before disappearing into the darkness.

Posting the freaky clip on Facebook last week, she wrote: "I woke up Sunday morning and saw this on my camera and am trying to figure out.what the heck". Gomez claims that it "wasn't altered or photoshopped and no trick photography".

Naturally, the clip has now racked up more than 5.5 million views, with followers desperate for an explanation. Although it appears like someone is playing a prank on the poor lady, people also couldn't help but notice how the "creature" looks a lot like the Harry Potter character.

In other words, this is an alien.

"They are among us", one person wrote.

While a fourth added: "There could be genuine alien life roaming our planet and ppl be making dobby memes I WANT ANSWERS". "This is definitely not human", another said.

Of course, the Internet has been abuzz with theories about what the creature could be.

Some pointed out that the creature appears to vanish completely in the last frame of the video.
