Multiple news outlets recently publicized the deaths of three American tourists at the Bahia Principe, another resort area in the Dominican Republic. Robert Bell Wallace, 67, of California was staying at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana when he had a scotch from the minibar in his room. Wallace died the day of the wedding, Tickenoff told the station.

Five days later, Edward Nathaniel Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Day, 49, of Prince George's County, Md., were found dead in their room at Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville, a nearby hotel, after they failed to check out.

The family of Glenside resident Yvette Monique Sport said she died in 2018 at a Bahia Principe Resort on the Dominican Republic after having a drink from the minibar.

Wallace, who was reportedly urinating blood, died three days after falling ill at the resort.

"He started feeling very sick, he had blood in his urine and stool right afterward", Arnold said of her uncle, who had arrived in the country with his wife a day earlier. Her cause of death was due to a "heart attack", said her sister, Felecia Nieves. Arnold said he had been fine until he drank the scotch.

According to Arnold, a hotel doctor had checked on Wallace and decided he needed to be hospitalized on April 13.

"People report food-borne illnesses but it's possible that they experienced some other type of contamination", said Patrick Quade, founder of iwaspoisoned.com, adding that he had consulted with scientists with regards to the findings.
