The film will feature the voices of all five members of the original band and a plot in which the quintet become superheroes.

Even cooler is that the senior team behind Paramount Animation is largely made up of women, which feels appropriately fierce and feminist given the Spice Girls' longtime message of girl power.

The yet-unnamed Spice Girls film is due to be released in 2020, 13 years after the girls' first move, Spice World was released.

The Spice Girls reunion is coming to fruition thanks to the efforts of Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria, who announced to The Hollywood Reporter that the group "had an idea that we've been developing" and that they are "very involved" in the process.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this news is that the entire Spice Girls gang is attached to the project - with Legally Blonde, Ella Enchanted, She's the Man, House Bunny, and 10 Things I Hate About You scribes Karen McCullah and Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith on board to write the script.

Details are still sketchy at this point, but what is known, is that this shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence. According to police, the victim's roommate woke up around 5 a.m. local time Saturday to a racket in the living room.

The Spice Girls are finally making their triumphant return to movie theaters over 20 years after the release of Spice World.

The animated feature will be the second Spice Girls movie, following 1997's "Spice World" - a hit at the box office but not with critics.

A rep for the Spice Girls did not respond to EW's request for comment. It is also expected to include the group's iconic songs as well as new tunes.

The group is now on its Spice World reunion tour sans Beckham, who has chosen to focus on her successful fashion line.
