Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid have announced the signing of France global Ferland Mendy from Lyon and the left back is expected to be unveiled at the Bernabeu on July 1.

It marks another foray in the transfer market for Madrid, who have already bolstered their ranks for next season with the signings of Eder Militao, Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard. This time they've brought in left back Ferland Mendy from Olympique de Lyon.

Operation Paul Pogba is only getting underway and the Frenchman could set the club back as much as 150m euros more, although Real Madrid will do all they can to cut costs in his signing.

The French International, 24, has signed a six-year deal at the Bernabeu.

Whether his arrival impacts the future of either Marcelo, who has just endured a torrid season and been linked with Juventus, or Reguilon, remains to be seen.

"He has enjoyed a meteoric progression", said France coach Didier Deschamps on Monday.

Madrid finished third in La Liga last season, 19 points behind champions and arch-rivals Barcelona. "Two years ago he was in Ligue 2 and now he will play for Real Madrid".
