A baby cut from his mother's womb during a brutal attack in April has died, a family spokeswoman said.

A statement by another family spokeswoman, Julie Contreras, expressed "great sadness" in announcing Yovanny Jadiel Lopez's death and said he died from a severe brain injury.

Police have said Ochoa-Lopez, a high school student, went to Figueroa's home at least twice this year after connecting on a Facebook group for mothers, where the teen accepted Figueroa's offer of baby items. "Please keep his family in your thoughts & prayers as they go through this hard time".

She is said to have taken the baby to the hospital and passed it off as her own after dumping Marlen's body in a trash can at the side of her house.

Representatives for the family told U.S. media that the baby's condition had deteriorated this week. Figueroa's boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, is charged with concealing a homicide.

There funeral will be private and the family asked for respect during this hard time. He was in intensive care with severe brain damage since arriving to the hospital.

Three people have been charged in connection with the murder, which police called an "unspeakable act of violence".

Other Iranian small boats have remained near the stricken oil tanker since the attack early Thursday, the official added. No country or non-state actor has claimed responsibility for those attacks either.

Ochoa managed to get her fingers under the cord around her neck before the woman strangling her, Clarisa Figueroa, yelled at her daughter, "You're not doing your [expletive] job!" according to Murphy.

Asked about the family's motivation for slaying the teen and stealing her baby, Johnson replied: "Only they know that", reported ABC 7.

Clarisa Figueroa and the infant then were hospitalized, though the woman showed no signs to suggest she'd just delivered a baby, Murphy said. They say she plotted for months to acquire a newborn, and that she posted an ultrasound and photos of a room decorated for a baby on her Facebook page. In March, she and Ochoa connected on a Facebook page for pregnant women.

Authorities contend that not long after Clarisa Figueroa's adult son died of natural causes, she told her family she was pregnant.

Claris Figueroa, 46, has appeared in court this week, alongside her daughter Desiree, charged with first-degree murder after it was alleged she lured Marlen to her house by offering free baby clothes on a local forum.

The youngster's true identity was confirmed by DNA test shortly after his mother's remains were found.
