Derby County boss Lampard, adored by the Chelsea faithful for his record-breaking goalscoring exploits during a trophy-laden 13 years in west London, could be the ideal candidate to lead them in a new direction.

Serie A champions Juventus reportedly reached an agreement in principle with the Blues on Sarri's transfer, with the Bianconeris obliged to pay the Blues a fee of over €5million in return.

Sarri is expected to be confirmed as Juventus coach in the next 24 hours, and Chelsea will now turn their attention to securing his replacement.

Lampard spent some time behind the scenes at Chelsea when completing his coaching badges, so retains detailed knowledge of the Stamford Bridge set-up. As Sarri departs, Frank Lampard, the Chelsea legend who now plies his trade as manager of Derby County in the Championship, is being lined up as a replacement with a deal reportedly only days away from confirmation.

Players such as Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Callum Hudson-Odoi are expected to play a significant role in the senior set-up next season, when the team will return to the Champions League after a year's absence.

Meanwhile, Mateo Kovacic's loan move from Real Madrid is unlikely to be made permanent.

With Neymar watching from afar, it was Philippe Coutinho who came through for Brazil in the Copa America opener. Among those at the Morumbi on Friday was Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro.

He would, however, be welcomed by the fans who would show him more patience than they did Sarri despite him taking them to third in the Premier League and winning the Europa League.

"Frank knows the club and he knows the players and the players will respect him".

I can see Frank managing Chelsea Football Club at some stage in his career.

Drogba continued: "Does he have to wait until he is 40 or 50 to be ready?"

Several newspapers report that outgoing Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri, who had been linked with the Chelsea job, is out of the running after announcing that he plans to take a year off.
