Six suspects, including gunman, arrested in Ortiz shooting

Police in the Dominican Republic detained the alleged gunman of David Ortiz among four other suspects Wednesday, according to The Associated Press.

The police are continuing the investigation and looking for a motive for the shooting. Surgeons there operated for six hours to fix damage to his intestines and liver, also removing his gallbladder.

Shortly after the shooting, Ortiz was rushed to a local hospital and was in the intensive care unit after being treated for bleeding in his liver and having portions of his intestines and gall bladder removed, said Leo Lopez, his spokesman.

The document also said the two men were seen on security camera footage talking with other people in the Accent and another Hyundai in a nearby street before the shooting at 9:20pm on Sunday.

Also under arrest were Joel Rodrguez de la Cruz, aka Squiddy; Reynaldo Rodrguez Valenzuela, aka The Chinaman; and the suspected driver of the motorcycle, Eddy Vladimir Feliz Garca, aka The Package.

He was charged Tuesday as an accomplice to attempted murder, while Martinez Perez was arrested Wednesday and is being questioned, according to NBC News. Surveillance video also shows a man walking up behind Ortiz at the bar and shooting him point-blank.
