Target down: Cash registers not working nationwide

- A tech issue that left Target shoppers stuck in line Saturday afternoon has been fixed, corporate officials announced.

"This is how you bring America to a standstill", a Minnesota journalist shared on Twitter alongside a photo of an error message at a cashier's stand.

"All the registers at #Target are down nationwide but we're making the most of it", posted Dan Clemens on Twitter. "Avoid target today as the registers are down globally".

No word from Target on what caused the outage.

Target Corp on Saturday said it was working on a problem that prevented customers in the United States from paying for their purchases.

Some stores were reported to be handing out free snacks and beverages. FOX 8 will provide more updates as they become available.

It's not clear how many Target stores have been affected or the reason for the issue.

Some shoppers made earnest pleas for customers to be patient with Target employees. They say no customer information was compromised during the outage.
