Bella Hadid slammed for her Instagram post that offended citizens of UAE

Palestinian-American supermodel Bella Hadid has come under fire on social media for supposedly disrespecting Saudi Arabia and the UAE in her recent Instagram story.

In certain cultures, it is considered the ultimate insult to display the sole of footwear to someone, as it implies the person is lower than the dirt on the sole.

Some focused in on her Palestinian heritage, questioning why she would be so outspoken about Saudi Arabia and the UAE if she wouldn't do the same for her own country.

Hadid was born in Washington, DC. I hope you can understand the misunderstanding.

Realizing the error, the supermodel took to Twitter and Instagram apologizing for her post. "I would never want my posts or platform to be used for hate against anyone, especially those of my own attractive & powerful heritage", she explains. "I love and care so much about the Muslim and Arab side of my father, as well as my brothers and sisters throughout the world".
