Lyon have requested that £63m be paid for Ndombele, who was recently quoted as saying "It's true that Tottenham are a great team - a big club".

Spurs are thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele has admitted that he rates Tottenham Hotspur as a big club and believes any player would be interested in playing for one of the elite sides.

Ndombele, 21, has resultantly garnered interest from a host of top European clubs, with Tottenham leading the chase. "They finished fourth in their league, they were finalists in the Champions League", he said. They also reached the round-of-16 in the UEFA Champions League and eventually got knocked out of the tournament by La Liga giants Barcelona.

Ndombele would add steels to United's otherwise soft midfield and given Paul Pogba's public desire to depart, the need to sign him is even more desperate.

Spurs, as have many other clubs have been linked heavily with Ndombele this summer with the Frenchman poised to leave Lyon.

The other teams apparently interested in the midfielder are Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain.

It is reported that negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing but no deal is close to being agreed for the 22-year-old.

He also said that any player would want to play for a club of Tottenham's stature.
