Yet another suspect, who is already in prison for unrelated crimes, allegedly contacted Perez to set up the hit and gave him Ortiz's picture to give to the hitmen.

Ortiz was still in Massachusetts General Hospital's intensive care unit as of late last week as he recovers from multiple surgeries to fix liver and kidney damage.

One of the suspects is Gabriel Alexander Perez Vizcaino, whom Dominican authorities identified as the man who paid the alleged hitmen who shot Ortiz.

Perez allegedly shared the picture with the other suspects as they gathered at a nearby gas station just minutes before the shooting.

The ending of the statement read, "Your support has lifted his spirits tremendously during this challenging time".

The newest arrest came as doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital upgraded Ortiz's condition from "guarded" to "good".

"He did this upon finding out that police were looking for him", court documents said, according to the AP.

And this time, New York's relievers finally held on - barely - after blowing late leads in the first two games of the series. Syndergaard reached for the back of his leg after throwing a pitch in the seventh inning Saturday night against the St.

About two days after the shooting, Ortiz was in stable enough condition to travel to a hospital in Boston, where he is still recovering.

"Trust the authorities", he said.

Ortiz's attorney, Jose Martinez Hoepelman, said he was satisfied with how the investigation was going.

As The Daily Wire previously reported, Ortiz was shot on June 9 at a club in his native Dominican Republic.

(CNN)David Ortiz's condition has been upgraded to "good" by doctors more than a week after the former Boston Red Sox star was shot in the Dominican Republic, his wife said Tuesday.

Ortiz played 20 Major League Baseball seasons before retiring after the 2016 season. The three-time World Series champion suffered damage to multiple internal organs from the shooting and had to undergo six hours of surgery after being rushed to a local Dominican hospital after the apparent ambush.
